Tuatha Dé Danaan
   The folk of the god whose mother is Danu. In Celtic myth these were a wave of migrants to Ireland following the Firbolgs and the Fomors. Being the latest arrivals they appropriated to themselves most of the qualifications of good, leaving to their predecessors the powers of evil. After a long succession of battles they defeated the Fomors at Mag Tuireadh (Magh Tuiredh) with immense slaughter on both sides. Eventually they themselves were defeated by the Milesians and most of their leaders retired to the sea islands from which they had come.
